Reiki is unconditional Love

The Japanese word Reiki is pronouced Ray-Kee. We can try to define the meaning of the word Reiki as best we can. However, we cannot be precise, given that words within the Japanese language can have many different meanings. But we can try! The word Reiki has two parts: Rei: Universal, Spirit, Source, Holy, Nature, God/Goddess/All That Is, Invisible Spirit. Ki: Life Force Energy. A translation that many Reiki Masters agree is an appropriate description for Reiki is: "Universal Life Force Energy" Rei is everywhere and everything. It is the whole of creation from the smallest atom to the most distant galaxy in the depths of the Universe. It is everything we can see, hear, touch, taste, feel, perceive and everything we can't. It is the visible and the invisible. Ki is the life force energy that animates every living thing. It is the energy that causes every system and cell in our bodies to function. It is the energy that flows through and around everything living thing. The healthier a person is, the more Ki they have. Look at a vibrant flower growing strong in your garden and you will see an abundance of Ki. Ki is known as "Chi" in China and "Prana" in India. You may be familiar with the use of this energy in acupuncture and martial arts. "Technically speaking, Reiki is one of many methods that are part of the Chinese family of Qigong and are used to activate, harmonize, and reconnect the self with the universal energy. It has its roots in ancient Buddhism/Shintoism, but differs from the common streams in one central point: the energy is transferred or made available to the student by initiation, not by years of long practice. You could call it the lazy man's Qigong". - Frank Arjava Petter "Reiki Fire" Reiki is Life Force Energy guided by Divine Wisdom of Spirit.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an intelligent, loving, all encompassing energy. It knows exactly what healing energy is needed, when, where and how much. Reiki is simple and easy to learn. It is not just a method of healing physical ills. Reiki heals on all levels - mind, body and spirit. Reiki benefits the giver as well as the receiver. Reiki does not drain the energy of the person giving Reiki, nor can the giver receive negative energy from the receiver or visa versa. Reiki is non-religious. You do not have to follow any particular religion or indeed have any faith at all in order to practice or receive Reiki. You do not even have to believe in Reiki in order for it to work. Reiki is Unconditional Love.
Reiki can help in every area of our lives. It is said that when you are ready for Reiki, Reiki finds you! Reiki is regarded by many as more than just a complementary therapy or method of healing. It can also help us on our spiritual path, our life journey. For some, Reiki has a dramatic, life changing effect. They feel more empowered. Life seems to flow more easily. Past problems fade away and previous difficulties seem less significant or easier to deal with. What was once thought impossible is now possible. Some may look differently at, and want to make changes around their job, home, relationships, or lifestyle in general. Reiki can help us make positive changes in our lives in a supportive way. However, the decision to take action or make changes still rests with us. We have our will and the gift of free personal choice. After attending your first Reiki workshop, and as you start using Reiki, you may find that many questions arise! The Reiki Master you took the Reiki 1 class with will usually be available, and happy to help, so please don't hesitate to contact them. (You might like to check before taking Reiki 1 that the Reiki master-teacher does provide ongoing support). Experience is where true learning happens, and questioning is part of that experience and learning. There is much to learn from your own research and practice, and from the many Reiki books now available. Naturally though, many masters have many different ideas and interpretations. But you will find (and be 'drawn' to!) the books and the Reiki masters that "speak" to you and fit in with your own values, beliefs and understanding of Reiki. Also, always remember the value of your own inner wisdom. Generally, if something feels right to you, it is. Trust your intuition.Your Reiki 1 workshop is the beginning of your Reiki journey. Have fun, be creative, and enjoy using Reiki!
